Obstacles, Is Nature’s Way Of Teaching Lessons in Life
One of my participants who regularly reads my articles sent me an e-mail recently. He said that based on what he read in the articles, he would like to live his life: he finds them undeniably interesting. I smiled as I read his email. I sincerely hope that my articles do not give the impression that life always runs smoothly and that there would be no problems and obstacles in life if all seven basic laws of nature are applied in everyday life!
The obstacles will still be there as usual, but the difference is that when you practice the laws, you would be calmer “KNOWING” that whatever the obstacle is, Nature’s sole purpose is to teach you the lessons of life. Although an educated mind or an intellectual mind would do its best to prove that it is not wise, those who believe in the laws of nature would watch the antics of their minds being amused. Then they would put it aside and continue to learn the lessons of life, no matter how hard it was.
Let me share an example. Many years ago, I was in an orphanage sharing some knowledge and insights about how the mind works. As I shared this with some of the children, I was aware that I had become a little egotistical because I had managed to get a few children between the ages of seven and ten to actually sit down and listen to what I was saying. It was quite a feat because their manager at the orphanage told me that it was almost impossible to keep the children sitting in one place. While I was having that “high” ego feeling, one of the eight-year-old kids suddenly came up to me and showed me with his index finger to bend down to his height because he wanted to tell me something.
I understood his gesture and leaned closer to him. He looked me in the eye and said, “You think you know everything?”! Without saying anything else, he picked up his toy airplane and started running around with the other kids following him! I felt like I had been hit by a two ton truck! I just sat there lost in thought. At first there were waves of anger that wanted to scold the kid. My intellect rationalized fiercely, “You’re here spending your time teaching these kids the wonders of the mind for free, and therefore they SHOULD appreciate what you’re doing for them!”
However, suddenly there was a great roar from my spiritual heart that simply said, “Face it man! You were an egoist! Not only were you teaching them about the mind, but how to be egoists using their vibrations. The kid was just talking truth!” This one great howl from the heart silenced all the waves of anger in the mind. I smiled to myself and watched the children play. Then, spontaneously, I also joined them, and the best thing was, it was as if they didn’t even remember what had just happened, they simply accepted me. Later I ended up sharing with them about the mind and the laws of nature in a more pleasant and relaxed way.
Through nature’s obstacle, kids who refuse to learn, I actually learned some of life’s greatest lessons: humility, learning to laugh, and that the learning process is easier when it’s in a fun way, especially with kids.
The above is an example of where an obstacle actually taught me some of life’s greatest lessons.
Usually those without goals will find that they have a lot of problems, quantitative wise. However, the quality of the problem will be low. On the other hand, those with firm goals will find the number of problems to be fewer but the quality of the problems to be high. Let me explain.
It is true that ordinary people without goals or who constantly change their goals (without achieving them) face many problems and obstacles in life. The reason is that their thoughts are not focused; as such, according to the Law of Vibration and Attraction, they attract people, ideas and events that are also mixed in some way. They receive confusing and often contradictory signals from nature.
Let’s look at an example: a person without a goal suddenly decides to have a goal, maybe buy a better car. He was able to get this idea at a recent motivational seminar he attended. Through the Law of Selection, he now decided to have a goal. This triggers the powerful Law of Vibration and Attraction. As his thought vibrations (filled with a goal) spread everywhere, he attracts people, ideas and events to make the goal a reality. Nature is now slowly building the foundations that will help him achieve his goals. Probably, nature prepared a nice idea for him to achieve his goal and channeled it through one of his colleagues at work.
Now, while Nature works on this, this person on the other hand receives their monthly credit card statement. He just realized that he has a huge debt that he has to pay off, as well as other loans, such as housing. It makes him sad. At the same time, a really sad song is playing on the radio. This depresses him even more! If you notice, his focus has now shifted from buying a better car to his debts; that means his goal has changed!
It’s like planting a mango seed and a few days later you dig it up and plant a durian seed in its place, and later replace it with another seed. Not a single seed has a chance to grow at all because it is constantly being pulled out before it even sprouts. In the end, you will find only weeds in that place, which eat up all the nutrients in the soil. In the end, the seed cannot be planted because the soil becomes barren!
Back to the person who “changed” the goal; not realizing that he would now be sending out negative vibrations through the Law of Vibration and Attraction! As he continues to think about his debts, he would attract all kinds of obstacles to himself to ensure that he has more financial problems to make sure that he stays in debt! Now he has two opposite vibes working for him: the positive vibe of getting a new car at the beginning, but now slowly being replaced by a new vibe that has “debts” written all over it!
What do you think the outcome will be?
Now he goes to the office sad and depressed. In the office, his colleague is excitedly waiting for him, through whom nature conveyed the idea. However, his excitement turns dull when he sees his friend enter the office looking sad and depressed.
After asking around, he is made aware of the problems his friend is facing: many debts to settle. Hearing this, he no longer feels like sharing the idea with his friend because the idea no longer seems important or practical!
Thus, the original positive thought vibrations sent by a person who set a goal to buy a better car are replaced by negative thought vibrations that focus on his financial debts. As such, the idea from Nature failed to reach him because he unconsciously nullified the positive vibration by focusing on negative thoughts, which was his debt! He was so close to achieving his goal, but unfortunately, due to his own thoughts, he didn’t even get to hear the idea from his friends!
However, this is not the end! The more he focuses on negative thoughts now that are his debts; Nature would therefore see to it that what he thinks about comes true. Now he will attract people, ideas and events that will create more obstacles for him to accumulate more debts. For example, he may fall ill and require specialist treatment, but his insurance does not cover the illness, or his car may develop problems and require expensive repairs, and other such problems.
Now that his problems are starting to pile up, he would completely forget about his original goal of buying a better car. If someone reminded him of his original goal, he would probably turn to that person and give them an earful!
The above example shows us the thought patterns of ordinary people: thoughts are rarely firm or wholeheartedly focused on a single goal. They constantly change their minds without realizing it. As such, they face numerous obstacles that originally stem from their own thoughts. Although they want good things, they usually end up thinking about more negative things.
To console themselves, some of these people will philosophically say that they are being tested by nature. They say it would elevate them more over time. This is a statement of ignorance. These people have not an iota of what the true test of nature is! The obstacles they face are nothing compared to those who have firm goals and constantly think and do their best to achieve their goals.
People with habitual thought patterns, sometimes positive and sometimes negative, attract similar positive and negative people, ideas and events. Every day, they alternate between positive and negative several times over, throughout their lives. They live their lives not knowing the greatness of nature, not realizing their true potential and ultimately not fulfilling the very reason for their existence on earth! As such, the so-called “obstacles” they face are meaningless! They learn nothing from it and at the end of the day they do nothing about it.
They continue to face obstacles again and again; for example, financial difficulties. All they do is complain and blame everyone else from their employer, family and even the government, instead of actually making any effort to overcome the obstacles!
On the other hand, there are different obstacles that appear in the lives of those whose thoughts are firmly focused on their goals. These obstacles are truly significant in their growth.
Those who have firm goals within themselves are truly unique. Their thoughts are always focused on their goals no matter what happens. They are aware that they will go through obstacles from nature before they actually achieve their goals. For example person A; he is 22 years old, single and sets a goal with a firm determination to achieve it. The goal is to have a happy family, be in good health and have a comfortable monthly income of RM15,000 per month.
Since he’s just starting out in life, he probably doesn’t have enough experience to run a family, enough knowledge about his own health, and of course, no idea how to handle an income of RM15,000 a month! As such, while he focuses on goals, Nature will build A’s skills, abilities, experience and character through his obstacles so that one day he will have the ability to manage a family, learn to maintain health and earn RM15,000 a month.
He may face obstacles in terms of attachment, expectations and extreme emotions through his current relationship with his lover, his family and relatives due to problems that appear out of nowhere; by the kindness of nature! The obstacles will help the young man, Person A, become wiser and also guide him to master the delicate art of diplomacy.
He slowly becomes aware that differences of opinion are absolutely normal in relationships since at least two people are involved, and realizes that it is wise to find a win-win solution to such problems. As nature builds his knowledge and experiences through a series of these obstacles, he becomes more mature in his relationship and eventually is able to maintain happiness and harmony in the family.
Since he has set a goal to maintain good health, nature can set him back by making him sick! I know, you’d probably wonder why nature would want to do that, since the obstacle is the exact opposite of what the goal is. However, here the limited mind of a human being loses to the infinite wisdom of Nature. It is likely that during the treatment of his illness, doctors will discover that he has an even more serious health problem that requires immediate attention or could lead to his premature death.
Similarly, he may face financial difficulties as he begins to achieve his financial goals. Through this obstacle, nature teaches him experiences of thrift and wisdom in handling money. As such, he will be stable and composed when he finally achieves his goal of earning RM15,000 per month.
The above example of person A shows how nature, through its so-called obstacles, helps to build and shape an inexperienced person into someone who is much more mature and wise, so that he is truly worthy of the goal that his spiritual heart desires.
I hope this article on “Obstacles” has helped create awareness of the importance and role of obstacles for those who are determined to achieve their goals.
