Are you aware of your weight?
Many people are very self-conscious about their appearance, and they don’t have to be.
Some people just have a self-conscious nature.
You have to decide if you are truly unaware of your weight or if you are just conscious in nature.
Both can be easily fixed.
Before we begin this discussion about being overweight, let’s take a moment to define what it means to be self-conscious.
This is when you have the uncomfortable feeling that others are watching or watching you.
Being self-conscious is when you don’t want the attention you think you’re getting. Or at least the kind of attention you think you’re getting. Therein lies the true definition of self-aware. It is what you think or perceive. Maybe not reality.

Being overly self-conscious seems to be a phase teenagers go through. Being overweight is just another thing teenagers obsess over. However, these feelings from the teenage years can affect a person’s self-image well into their adult life.
Become aware of the little things
Being self-aware means that you become very aware of even the smallest and most innocuous things about yourself. Then you start obsessing over it.
As it relates to your overweight, you may think that everyone is looking at you when you buy a chocolate bar or go to the bakery. In this case, you may worry if they think, “Why does that fat girl/boy need that candy?” or some other stupid idea.
Of course, that’s just a silly idea for an uninvolved third party who sees the situation with his own eyes in a detached way. For the person who buys that candy, it becomes a serious problem that fuels their self-conscious feelings.
A similar feeling can occur when a self-conscious person eats in a restaurant. They may feel like everyone is “watching” them to see what and how much they eat.
Don’t be so self-centered
By the very definition of self-aware, you are putting too much emphasis on yourself. Being overweight just gives you a reason (at least in your own mind) why people might look at you and think badly of you.
Unfortunately, when you are overly concerned with what you are doing and how you are doing it, you become nervous and make “mistakes”.
You drop objects that clatter noisily onto the floor.
You turn things over and make a mess.
This only increases your anxiety because now everyone (once again, in your own mind) has another reason to look at you and be critical.
It’s a negative situation that feeds on itself, making you feel worse every moment.
Lose weight – reduce self-consciousness
An amazing thing happens when you lose weight.
You start to feel better about yourself.
You experience an improvement in self-confidence.
Your self-esteem skyrockets and you begin to feel good about your relationships.
And your self-conscious attitude melts away.
Your life becomes much better.
You will begin to wonder why it took so long to lose the pounds that have plagued you for so many years. That’s a big thing that happened.
