ARF-MC – The Life Performance Model

Remember that acronym! It sounds a bit silly, but this information has been 20 years in the making. I urge everyone to go against it. Think about all the great achievements you have achieved and you will find this model in all of them! Guaranteed!

1. Paragraph

Your body reflects your attitude. Every unwanted kilogram is an unwanted thought that you have to get rid of. You think you are thin and you will be. Love your body and you will attract more people, places and things that will lead you to love your body more, such as: health, wealth and healthy people. If you are disgusted with your body, you will attract people, places and things that will help support this thought, such as: sickness, poverty and unhealthy people.

A healthy attitude is what leads to the success of a training program; not the training program itself!

Just as a budding flower will reflect what feeds its roots, your body reflects your attitude. Right now, your body is the sum of all the thoughts and decisions you’ve made so far. If you have anxiety and worry, your body reflects an attitude that is anxious and worried. There is no way that the attitude cannot be changed without the body following it. Therefore, your mental outlook on your life must be the first thing to change; not your cardio program!

2. Recovery

If your body is too tired, it cannot perform at its peak. Therapeutic massage is a complete treatment that harmonizes the whole body. It can help treat chronic headaches, spinal and nerve problems, PMS, chronic fatigue syndrome and countless other symptoms of illness. Hydrotherapy is one of the fastest ways of recovery. Jacuzzi, pool and ice are examples of hydrotherapy. They are one of the most commonly used components in rehabilitation centers. Our body consists of 75% water; therefore it is not surprising why water is our main source of energy. Myo-facial therapy is a technique designed to remove all knots from the muscles to help the body’s postural deviations and overall movement. If you are injured, you do not enter the game. Recovery helps prevent injury.

When you over train your body without giving it enough time to recover, it will rebel against you with injuries and mental burnout. The recovery component is the most watched component in the entire training. The old school of thought is no pain no gain. But the new school train of thought is more pain equals more pain! Don’t let pride get in the way of your results. Listen to your body and strategically plan your exercise program with pre-planned rest days. You also want to plan how you will take some of those days off. Whether it’s a bath in seawater that’s great for your body or a massage, recover your body! They will thank you for the results.

3. Fuel

Water content regulates all body functions. The lack of this natural lubricant for the body will manifest various symptoms, signals and complications that are now labeled as diseases. It is a natural remedy for various health conditions such as: arthritis pain, lower back pain, headaches, constipation, asthma and allergies. It is also excellent for weight loss. Many people overeat because they are unconsciously trying to quench their thirst.

Many times people strain and tear muscles and the first thing they think is that they didn’t stretch enough. However, the body can signal drought in certain areas by causing various pains and injuries in certain parts of the body. Back pain, arthritis pain and headache are just some of the symptoms of dehydration.

Rarely will a doctor question your hydration when you come in complaining of joint pain. They say rest, ice and buying their drug that is being pushed by a powerful pharmaceutical company. They don’t question how well your body is hydrated; treat symptoms of dehydration. Over time, this symptom turns into something else for which more drugs or surgeries are prescribed. The medical industry capitalizes on our body’s thirst for water, and we don’t even realize it. Think of your body as a car. If the car had little oil, the engine or some other area that needs to be lubricated would slowly break down. Our body is the same way.

The less water you drink, the more your joints will hurt. So, when your body hurts, don’t reach for a pill, reach for water. You want to drink at least half your body weight in ounces. For example, I weigh 225 pounds, so I want to drink at least 113 ounces of water a day, or just under a gallon. We cannot go with the traditional 8 cups a day because they are not all the same size. A college forward can’t drink the same amount of water as a 125 pound woman!

Food keeps your metabolism burning throughout the day. Think of your metabolism as a wood fire. The fire will burn fastest and most fiercely if you feed it with small pieces of wood during the day. It will burn slowly if you place one large piece of wood once or twice a day. The goal is to eat five or six times a day and keep the fire burning fast. 75% of your success will be determined by how thorough you are in your food journal. It may take a few weeks to adjust to eating occasionally during the day; especially if you have eaten only 1 to 2 times a day for 10 to 20 years. Be patient with yourself and know that you will make mistakes because you are human.

Much of the food we consume is laced with pesticides, chemicals and hormones that affect your mind like any other drug. Fruits and vegetables are essentially sponges that collect any nutrients or chemicals from the soil. No wonder we have a society with inexplicable pain and illness. Our animals are full of hormones that affect our bodies when we eat them. The best way to do this is to eat all organic fruits and vegetables and cage-free and hormone-free animal products. It will definitely have an effect on your mind and body. Most importantly, it will improve your performance in life.

Multivitamins are designed to give you all the nutrients your regular diet doesn’t contain. It is unlikely that you will eat a perfect diet in the condensed time, in the company of cell phones and the Internet, and you have no need for multivitamins. A multivitamin has as many nutrients as 5000 calories of food!

4. Movement

Strength is a combination of strength, agility and speed. You want to be strong, fast and agile, regardless of whether you are a professional athlete or a cubicle queen. The weaker, slower and uncoordinated you are, the faster your body ages and you look out of shape! Men traveled across the Atlantic Ocean and died trying to find the fountain of youth; but you can create the best possible machine by training to have a strong body. Your options depend on your lifestyle and time constraints. The human body is the best machine ever designed. Earth doesn’t do the same thing every day. It’s not every day sunny, and it doesn’t rain every day either. Your workouts should reflect life. You can run, walk, swim, ride a bike, lift weights, do pilates or yoga. Just do something!

Moderate to high intensity cardio burns more calories than old school low intensity cardio. Moderate to high intensity cardio has an afterburn that lasts much longer than low intensity cardio. Weight lifting is even more beneficial because it helps keep the body’s metabolism high for 2 to 3 days. Cardio burns your muscles so you can’t just do cardio. The burn after weights lasts for days as opposed to just a few hours with cardio. We aim to do higher intensity exercises to create more of a post-workout burn and to challenge the mental and physical aspects of our training. Sprinting helps the body to release human growth hormone which greatly helps in increasing muscle mass and speeding up the metabolism. It also prepares for emergency situations that occur in life. We will not always be able to walk at our own pace; sometimes you may have to run across the street for your dog, your child or your life!

5. Training

There has never been a successful person who did not have a coach or mentor. Where do you get information about your health and fitness? Is it a knowledgeable and experienced source? Certifications may be thrown out in comparison to experience. We say this because we have both. Most health and fitness information starts in the trenches and makes its way to the ink. We know we don’t have all the answers. We know that some concepts we follow today may be disproved tomorrow. If we don’t have an answer to a problem, we’d rather search and find someone who does than just tell someone something we have no idea about. We recommend all our clients do their own research to feel confident in the knowledge they possess.

Knowledge controls how far we can go in life. It creates divisions in people, money and, most importantly, your health. We must always be in search of new knowledge and try to bring ourselves to perfection knowing that we will never achieve it. It’s the fastest way to get to your next destination. You can never have enough knowledge. Don’t lock yourself into one style of training. The Body Blast workout is just one style of workout. There are an infinite number of training methods. Your training methods should be like water, constantly changing. This is the law of life. Your body will just respond to the laws of life.

ARF-MC! Remember that abbreviation! I went through 20 years of mistakes, injuries, losses, championship teams, and incredible athletic accomplishments that earned me national recognition among many other things to design this model. Take the shortcut and learn these 5 simple letters now! You will have great achievements in your health and fitness as well as the rest of your life. Guaranteed!

I leave you with this motivational quote from Anthony Robbins to find what truly inspires you to be your best.

“People are not lazy. They simply have weak goals – that is, goals that do not inspire them.” – Anthony Robbins
