How to Start a Diet For ADHD Children

3. Do not buy processed foods, refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, chemical additives such as artificial flavors and colors.

4. Do not buy foods that contain hydrogenated oils, trans fats and saturated fats.

5. Eliminate dairy if at all possible and see if that helps because dairy in the diet of children with ADHD is usually not well tolerated.

6. Try to eat protein with every meal to control your blood sugar.

7. Children with ADHD have many nutrient deficiencies, so giving ADHD children extra vitamins is something you should add to your list.

Try to buy pesticide and hormone free if possible, most grocery stores now carry organic foods or try your neighborhood markets. These days you can even find bacon that hasn’t been treated with nitrates; there are even great tasting natural corn dogs that my son loves and he can tell the difference even when I switch milk brands.

Many studies confirm that the diet of children with ADHD lacks essential fatty acids that help with learning, behavior, sleep and immunity. Omega 3 essential fatty acids are abundant in brain cells and the only way to get these fantastic fats is to eat them. There are also homeopathic medicines on the market that, in addition to vitamins, help children with ADHD recover.

Changing the diet for children with ADHD and supplementing that diet with vitamins for children with ADHD is the best way to help your child now and in his future with a healthy lifestyle.
