Old and Popular All Saints High School – Schools in Hyderabad

What do you see – One of the oldest schools in Hyderabad and now the landmark Gunfoundry, All Saints High School marked the beginning of missionary education in the land of the Nizams. The corridors of All Saints have produced some of the best in various fields – be it Azharuddin in cricket or Sitaram Yechury in politics.

The building you see in this school overlooks the city from a small hill. It was built in 1942 and still retains its splendor. The spacious cricket ground leaves you in awe.

All Saints was among the most prestigious and sought-after educational institutions in the Twin Cities. It was started in 1855 by the Rt. Rev. Daniel Murphy, Vicar Apostolic of Hyderabad, on behalf of All Saints College. In 1858, the Rt. Rev. Mgr. Caprotti became its first rector. Earlier it catered to the educational needs of the English and Anglo-Indians. Now, however, it has students from different backgrounds.

The management of the school was taken over by the Montfort brothers from St. Gabriel in 1932. Until 1998, the school was an institution for boys.

what do you get – The co-educational school has more than 3,000 students and over a hundred faculty members. The school follows the Andhra Pradesh state curriculum. Each class has a maximum of 60 students.

Inspections are carried out regularly. This includes four unit tests and three final exams including the annual review. The school has facilities for outdoor games like football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, basketball and athletics, apart from indoor games like table tennis, badminton, chess and carrot. Debates, essay writing, quizzes and more are also encouraged. The same is the case with cultural activities such as singing, music, dancing and drama. There is also an after school cricket academy. It is open to children up to 16 years old. The academy has produced many state and national level cricketers.

All Saints have had the distinction of winning the Montfort literary, cultural and athletic inter-district championship for several years. It has dominated school cricket competitions since its inception.

Our verdict – The class strength is a little higher compared to the new schools that are coming up in the city. However, it focuses on the all-round development of the child. The annual tuition fee here is around Rs. 9,000 per annum. It is difficult to get admission due to the large number of applications. The school has a common enrollment form with other institutions – St. Paul’s and Little Flower. So you can apply for three institutions at once.
