How to Renew Your Passport at the UK Embassy in Thailand
UK passport holders who are in Thailand when their passport expires will need to go to the British Embassy in Bangkok to have their passports renewed and wait around ten (10) working days for processing.
The British Embassy in Thailand is located along Wireless Road, Lumpini, Pathumwan in Bangkok and accepts UK passport renewal applications from 9:00am to 11:00am.
Passport renewal processing is done exclusively on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that applications are processed exactly in the order in which they are received.
The new UK passport renewal rates are as follows:
For a 32-page passport, the fee is 7,221 baht. On the other hand, for a 48-page passport, the fee is 8,729 baht. For a child’s passport, the fee is 4,611 baht.
Procedure
In general, the procedure is similar, whether renewing, replacing or first applying for a UK passport.
Applicants who are sixteen (16) years of age or older must complete Form C1.
Embassy officials will not accept the application and may reject it completely if the applicant has not filled it out correctly.
The applicant should write his initials in the small box located on each page of the C1 application form. If the applicant could not write, he must submit a letter from the responsible person to confirm the reason why the applicant cannot write.
The candidate must meet the following requirements
– 2 recent 35mm x 45mm photographs with a light background. (white, light gray or cream will do)
– Completed application form
– Consular fees
– Current passport
After submitting the completed C1 application form and the required documents, the applicant must pay the appropriate passport fee.
An applicant can renew their passport in person or by mail. If in person, he must bring the application form, supporting requirements and fee to the consular section of the British Embassy in Bangkok.
However, if the renewal is by post, the application must be accompanied by a Banker’s Draft corresponding to the amount of the application fee plus an administration fee of 200 baht, or a money order or postal order payable to “British Embassy”.
