My good kissing cat (the subject of my article, “How to Teach a Cat to Kiss”) is a neutered five-year-old male mixed breed.

The farthest I could get was to get rid of the little kitten because he had already captured my heart. I decided that the kitten would stay in the basement and the older cat would stay in the house.
I learned two things:
- It is not good to make a kitten and an older cat strangers to each other.
- Cat owners must take the initiative to create a friendly atmosphere for the two cats by allowing both to mix with each other. But always be vigilant to protect the kitten from being bitten or scratched by an older cat.

At first, the older cat will go far away whenever the kitten approaches. The act insinuates that the larger cat is avoiding the kitten because it does not want to harm the kitten. It is also a gesture that he may eventually accept the kitten’s presence. He then begins to play with the kitten by letting it play by wagging his tail. There may be a case where the cat becomes overly excited that it may unintentionally hurt the kitten. You can always distract him, but don’t scold an older cat. Instead, let him lick the kitten. Then encourage him to play with the little one again. As the older cat licks the kitten, it develops a certain character trait.
In the case of my cat who is a good kisser, he has a developed maternal instinct. He took care of the kitten and petted it. Even now, when the kitten is already a mature cat, the older cat is still petting him.
Experts explained that female behavior was developed in neutered male cats because the estrogen hormone is the only hormone present in the cat’s body after the source of testosterone is removed. This creates a tendency in male cats to act like females. Estrogen and testosterone are present in both humans and animals. In women (both humans and animals), estrogens are dominant over testosterones, and in men (both humans and animals), testosterones are dominant over estrogens.
Earlier I let go of my worries – the thought of seeing my two cats fight. It is truly a wonderful experience to see two adult cats loving each other like mother and son. And now I’m jealous because the kitten I love so much loves her “surrogate mother” more than her lover.
