Disney and Asus Have Got Together to Make a Safe Netbook For Kids

Disney in partnership with Asus has announced the launch of a mini laptop suitable for children aged 6-12. Coming in two styles, Princess Pink and Magical Blue, they are coming out with the Disney NetPal Asus MK90H and MK90, with a rumored release date of around August 1st, 2009 with a suggested retail price of $349.99.

Netpal was developed with kids and parents in mind and goes from box to setup in four easy steps. With 40 parental controls, it gives parents ultimate control and gives kids a safe yet real Netbook experience. The unique and intuitive visual Disney interface provides children with a magical and engaging experience.

160GB SATA hard drive (Asus MK90H)

Packed with plenty of power, rugged and durable, it also includes a spill-resistant keyboard and shock protection to help save data in the event of a fall.

The Disney user interface called “Gadget Tray features a creative, easy-to-use 2D menu design with a Disney-themed browser. The stunning visual environment includes Disney Pix Photo software that features a Disney Bobble head and allows kids to place their face on top of their body and download them to videos and play moving dance scenes.

Also included is a driving game, memory game, number game, photo notebook, stopwatch, digital memo pad and Radio Disney that broadcasts music in real time while letting kids request a song.

Kids can customize their desktop with more than 10 customizable themes that include popular Disney and Disney Pixar characters like Vintage Mickey, Toystory, Wall-e, Cars and more, with Hannah Montana and Jonas aimed at slightly older kids.

Disney Netpal by Asus allows parents to create a secure web environment including scheduling access by day and time limit for each program. They may also collect information about how and where children spend their time on Netpal.

With the only difference in the two models being that both drives weigh under 3 pounds. The Disney Netpal MK90H was rumored to be available only on Amazon, while the MK90 would be exclusive to Toy “R” Us.
