Eat 1 Whole Pizza Everyday and Lose Weight – The Surprising Weight Loss Experiment Results
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you could eat your favorite foods that you knew were unhealthy… and still lose weight? Well, I wondered that too. Then I set out to see how I could lose weight by eating my favorite food (pizza) every day.
I have many weight loss clients who lack discipline and just can’t eat healthy for more than a few days… even if I put a gun to their head (Ok, not really… no gun involved).
So I have to develop out-of-the-box ways to lose weight. Anyway, here are the surprising results of my “Pizza Daily Weight Loss Experiment”.
Now, one of my favorite foods is Totino’s Mexican Style Frozen Pizzas. Price, 98 cents at Wal-Mart. So my plan was to eat 1 of these a day for 10 days.
Here’s how I did it:
I ate 3 scrambled eggs with 1/2 can of black beans… and 2 tablespoons of sour cream. Ok, with me so far? I don’t eat pizza every meal. Only 2 meals… and I’m limiting myself to only 3 meals (which I don’t normally do).
This is a total of about 415 net calories. I don’t count the carbs in the fiber. Eggs had 210 calories, black beans had 145 net calories, and sour cream had 60 calories.
1/2 frozen Totino’s pizza with another 1/2 can of black beans and 2 tablespoons of sour cream. 1/2 pizza is 360 calories, 18 grams of fat, 36 grams of carbohydrates and 16 grams of protein. 1/2 can of black beans has a total of about 145 calories because I’m not counting the carbs in the fiber. Cream again has 60 calories.
So this meal had 565 calories.
For dinner, I had the other half of the pizza, another 1/2 can of black beans, and another 2 tablespoons of sour cream. (Side note: can’t you tell I love black beans! They’re high in protein and fiber without any carbs! I consider them a superfood!) So this meal was another 565 calories.
So my total… I had about 1545 real calories. 91 grams of protein, 40 grams of fiber, 65 grams of fat and 142 net grams of carbohydrates.
Total amounts of fat:
11 grams of sour cream
36 grams of pizza
5 grams of black beans
13 grams of eggs
Total amounts of protein:
18 grams of eggs
3 grams of sour cream
38 grams of black beans
32 grams of pizza
Net total carbohydrates:
63 grams of black beans
6 grams of sour cream
1 gram of eggs
72 grams of pizza
The only thing I ate these days was fruit for a snack… a selection… apples, grapefruit, bananas, blueberries and raspberries. I didn’t bother adding those calories. I also only drank water.
Now, the surprising results…
I didn’t know what to expect because frozen pizzas are definitely not healthy. I was also taking in a lot of carbs. Anyway, in 10 days I lost a total of 3 kilos. Success! It worked.
Since then I have put some of my clients on a slightly modified version of this diet and about 80% of them have lost weight. So this gives me the thumbs up if you want to lose weight… and if you’re only doing it for a short time. Heck, it’s really cheap too. It costs less than $2 a day. Woohoo.
So let’s be clear… you can eat “unhealthy” and still lose weight. I haven’t changed anything with my exercise program. So weight loss had nothing to do with more exercise.
Would I advise you to live off this diet forever? Definitely not. But for 7-10 days, yes, it can help you lose weight while eating delicious, junk food. Hmm, maybe I should develop an ice cream and chip diet! No, just kidding!
Bonus tip: For a crazy diet like this to work, you need to choose high protein and/or high fiber foods to base your diet on… or use high protein/high fiber foods as a supplement. With this diet, black beans were high in fiber and protein. The pizzas were “balanced”. Anyway, I’ve created a few more crazy diets like this for my clients based on different foods. The results for them were similar to the results of the Pizza a Day Weight Loss Experiment.
So, don’t get caught up in thinking about how to lose weight. There are many different ways.
If I were to give you a few more diets like this, do you think you could try one of them and prove or disprove it for yourself?
